Towell Group’s relationship with the Norwegian company Jotun began in 1974 when the group established a joint venture manufacturing facility in Dubai, UAE. Musandam Mineral & Industrial Co (MMIC) has its mining and processing facility strategically located in Khasab, on Oman’s Musandam Peninsula – adjacent to busy shipping lanes in the Arabian Gulf. The joint venture company was established by Towell Group in 2000 for the purpose of developing an integrated quarry to serve the GCC region. Today, MMIC produces high quality grey limestone, aggregate crushed sand, armor rock, and run-off quarry materials of various sizes. The company leverages its prime location in the Middle East, as quarry products can be loaded directly onto sea-going vessels from Khasab for distribution to regional markets.

The company is a commercial scale manufacturer of next-generation, biomass-derived chemicals. (Affordable bio-based chemicals are essential to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and are set to play a critical role in the reduction of carbon emissions in the future). Their technology is highly innovative, proprietary, and has been developed by GFBiochemicals over the last decade. Taj Mahal Purification (UAE)
Taj Mahal Purification of Potable Water L.L.C is Towell Group’s UAE-based water purification, filtration and processing plant serving several commercial and industrial sectors, as well as the region’s drinking water market. All the company’s water-processing operations are conducted in line with stringent legal, technical, and commercial safeguards. Taj Mahal Purification also runs an effluent/process water plant to recover water – “as a highly valuable resource” – for re-use in industrial and non-drinking applications.

PET Manufacturing
(A Division of Towell Group)
Towell Group’s PET Manufacturing division was purchased by the group in December 2004. This was the first manufacturing facility in the Middle East which began producing plastic PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles with inserted PP (Polypropylene) handles. Initially, PET Manufacturing was also one of the first division of Towell Group in Oman to engage in the commercial production of PET bottles and jars – for use in the edible oil industry, food & beverage packaging, mineral water bottling, hand wash/soap packaging etc. Today, the division continues producing high volumes of PET and plastic products for multiple commercial and lifestyle purposes. The PET market across the Gulf region is rapidly expanding and PET Manufacturing is committed to meeting this demand from their plant headquarters in Rusayl Industrial Estate, just outside of Muscat.
